Robert J. Haurin's entire legal career of nearly 20 years has focused on representing employers in work-related matters. His cutting-edge approach to employment law and workplace issues is evidenced by his role as a trusted advisor to employers as well as a litigator, trainer, and investigator on employment and labor-management relations matters. Bob is passionate about protecting organizations and helping employers to meet all of the challenges of today’s workforces.
Mr. Haurin’s experience as a C.P.A., prior to becoming an attorney, makes him especially valuable to clients during Fair Labor Standards Act and other pay audits. And, for employment issues where statistical and financial data are key, he brings insights that few attorneys can match.
Mr. Haurin has advised, represented, and defended employers of all sizes operating in public and private sectors and in union and non-union work environments. He has defended organizations in cases alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability, leaves of absence, wage and hour, wrongful termination, discipline, hiring, and termination as well as enforcement of restrictive covenants and non-disclosure agreements and other employment-related claims.
His labor practice has included negotiating collective bargaining agreements, advising management on labor-management relations, and representing clients before administrative agencies, labor boards and in grievance and interest arbitrations.
Mr. Haurin is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey. He has represented clients in state and federal courts and in proceedings before administrative agencies and hearing boards such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, New Jersey Division of Civil Rights, National Labor Relations Board, and Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, and in American Arbitration Association disputes.
Having received his B.S. in Accounting, cum laude, from West Chester University, Mr. Haurin became a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his J.D., with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law in 1992. He began to concentrate his practice on labor and employment law while still in law school, putting himself through school first as a law clerk at Schnader Harrison Segal and Lewis defending employers in ERISA and other employment-related litigation and later at Sagot, Jennings & Sigmond, where he learned to tackle challenging traditional labor matters.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Haurin has practiced with two large law firms. He began the practice of law as an associate attorney for four years in the Harrisburg, PA offices of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP. He then practiced as a senior associate in the Employment and Labor Practice Group in the Philadelphia office of Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, and with Krenzel and Associates.
Robert J. Haurin is also a speaker, writer, and commentator on labor and employment law and employer best practices. His articles have recently been published in the Legal Intelligencer, Philadelphia Lawyer magazine, Philadelphia Business Journal and Pocono Business Journal.
He is an active in the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, a member of its Government Relations Committee, and a frequent contributor on employment topics to the Chamber’s newsletter.
For the past three years, he has been a guest lecturer on labor law and collective bargaining to undergraduate students at The Wharton Business School. He has recently presented on topics of interest to business such as employee drug testing, health care reform and employment, and wage and hour laws and regulations.
He resides in Ivyland, Pennsylvania with his wife and two sons. Bob enjoys sports, music, running, golf, coaching baseball and basketball, and spending time with family.
